Why you should transfer to Wholistic Fostering

Why Transfer to Wholistic Fostering

A fostering agency that sees you – and the child – as individuals

If you're an experienced foster carer thinking about transferring, there are plenty of good reasons to consider joining a smaller, more focused agency like ours. At Wholistic Fostering, we offer a supportive, personal approach grounded in cultural understanding and professional integrity.

We're not a large national group. We're a family-run fostering agency based in the West Midlands, with over a decade of experience working closely with foster carers, local authorities and – most importantly – children. That means you'll never feel like just another number in a big system. Instead, you'll be part of a tight-knit, passionate community that shares your commitment to making a real difference in children's lives.

Why carers choose to transfer to Wholistic Fostering

1. A values-based agency focused on cultural understanding

We specialise in fostering children from African and Caribbean backgrounds. Larger agencies often fall short when it comes to culturally appropriate matching – a critical part of helping children feel safe, seen and understood. If you share our commitment to nurturing children within an environment that respects their cultural identity, you'll feel right at home here.

2. Tailored support and relationships that last

As a small agency, we're able to build strong, lasting relationships with every one of our foster carers. You’ll work with a consistent team who knows your name, your family and your journey. Our local office ensures support is never far away, and you’ll always have someone to turn to who genuinely understands your situation.

3. Practical training that strengthens your care

Your knowledge and skills matter – and we’re here to help you keep developing. We offer free, in-depth training both before and after you transfer, with a strong focus on understanding behaviour, managing challenges, and meeting the specific needs of children in your care. All our training is designed around your lifestyle and delivered locally or online for your convenience.

4. Fair fostering allowance and professional recognition

We offer competitive foster carer pay that reflects your experience and dedication. While we don’t offer bridging payments or large corporate benefit packages, our carers consistently tell us that the real value comes from feeling heard, respected and supported in the work they do every day.

How the transfer process works

Smooth, respectful and centred around you

If you're currently fostering with another agency or a local authority, transferring to Wholistic Fostering is a straightforward process – even if you already have a child in placement. We carry out a bespoke transfer assessment that builds on your existing Form F, focusing only on what’s needed to bring you across quickly and with minimal disruption.

We’ll liaise directly with your current agency and the local authority, always keeping the child’s best interests at the centre of the process. You’ll be supported by our team every step of the way – no pressure, no unnecessary delays, just clear and honest communication.

Your right to transfer

Every foster carer in England has the right to transfer to a new fostering agency. Whether you're looking for better support, more aligned values or a deeper sense of community, Wholistic Fostering offers a refreshing alternative to the large corporate-style agencies.

We’d love to talk to you about what really matters to you in your fostering journey – and how we can support you to continue changing lives.
