Support and training for transferring carers
We recognise your existing experience and training from day one. Transferring does not mean starting over — it means getting the support you have always deserved.
One of the most common concerns we hear from carers considering a transfer is: "Will I have to start again?" The short answer is no. We recognise your experience, we build on your existing training, and we make sure you're supported from day one — not from week eight once everything's been processed.
Training
What happens to your existing training
We don't ask carers to repeat modules they've already completed. We carry your training forward.
We request your full training records
As part of the transfer process, we obtain your complete training history from your current agency. This includes your preparation training, any CPD modules completed, first aid certification, and any specialist training you've undertaken.
Recognised training counts immediately
Any training that meets our standards (and the standards of the relevant regulatory frameworks) is recognised from the point you join us. You won't be asked to sit through a safeguarding module you completed three months ago.
We identify what you need — not what's easiest to deliver
Where there are genuine gaps, we'll fill them thoughtfully. That might mean a specific module, a piece of self-directed reading, or a conversation with one of our specialists — not a blanket rerun of your preparation training.
You join our ongoing training programme straight away
From the point of transfer, you're included in our full training calendar — at least 20 hours of training per year covering trauma-informed care, therapeutic parenting, supporting education, and more.
Support
Support begins before the paperwork is finished
We don't wait until everything is signed off to start looking after you. Here's what transferring carers can expect from us right away.
Named SSW from approval
You'll know who your supervising social worker is before the transfer is complete. They'll introduce themselves during the process, so you're not starting cold on day one.
Invitation to our carer community
You'll be invited to our next support group before your first supervision visit. Meeting other carers early helps you feel part of the team, not just a new addition to the caseload.
24-hour line activated immediately
From the point of transfer, you have access to our out-of-hours support line. You don't wait a month for it to be set up.
Allowances paid on the first cycle
Payments begin in the first allowance cycle after your transfer is approved. We make sure there's no gap in what you receive.
Ready to find out if transferring is right for you?
A conversation costs you nothing. We'll be honest about whether we're a good fit for your situation, and we won't pressure you into anything.
